Original Rainforest Markets

The Kuranda Original Rainforest Markets is where it all began, way back in 1977. Still occupying the same space over 40 years later, the markets are a beloved institution in Kuranda and retain their charm and character, offering a diverse array of shopping, dining and entertainment options. Visitors can wander the laneways, winding through and under the trees, exploring the many market stalls, stands, cafes and tea houses. There is a strong eco-conscious ethic at these markets, with many organic, recycled, natural, holistic and remedial products available. Browse for unique gifts and souvenirs with a wide array to choose from, including but not limited to, contemporary artwork and sculptures, clothing and handmade jewellery, homewares, didgeridoos, candles, gemstones and more. The little people will love The Magic Lane, which sprinkles a touch of fairy dust and magic into the Original Rainforest Markets experience, and there’s often live musical entertainment for your enjoyment.

There are lots of dining options, showcasing an array of international cuisines, including Japanese, Indonesian, French, Vietnamese, Australian and more. Pull up a chair in the Original Rainforest Markets Botanic Gardens venue, or make time for some mini golf, it’s all here in one great space. Entry to the Kuranda Original Rainforest Markets is on Therwine Street, by the Kuranda Honey House. It’s open Thursday through Sunday 10am to 3pm (Open Mondays, if it’s during school holidays or is a public holiday).
