The Kuranda Heritage Markets has a fabulous range of local fashion, art, craft and Australian made products, including many handcrafted Aboriginal items. Additionally, some of the stalls stock a variety of organic produce, sourced locally from the region, as well as exotic spices and healthy treats. It’s also home to two award winning wildlife attractions, the Kuranda Koala Gardens and Birdworld Kuranda. Every element of the Kuranda Heritage Markets was designed to maximise visitor comfort, engagement and enjoyment. The undercover market stalls provide all weather-shopping, while the open sides welcome cool mountain breezes to blow gently through the precinct. Should you get hungry, the highly acclaimed restaurant Frogs serves up an array of delicious curries, burgers, sandwiches and more, including coffee and cakes. It’s a licensed venue too, with an excellent wine and beer selection.
The Kuranda Heritage Markets is a family run business, which was established over 30 years ago. Set amongst the rainforest, it’s a delightful place to browse an extensive range of stalls, which are manned by friendly local residents. It’s accessible for all ages and abilities and has all amenities needed for a comfortable visit. While you are there, make sure you check out Geronimo, the famous plane wreck located just outside the market entrance, and the beautiful giant fig tree which is home to many wild birds. The Kuranda Heritage Markets are located on Rob Veivers Drive and are open Wednesdays to Sundays, 10am to 3.30pm. Please note the wildlife attractions and restaurant are open 7 days a week.
