Birdworld Kuranda is home to one of Australia’s largest collections of free-flying birds. Over 350 native and exotic birds live in this unique Kuranda attraction, which has been carefully designed to replicate the natural habitats of almost 60 different species from around the world. Birdworld Kuranda’s giant enclosed aviary features trees, ferns, shrubs, running water and a pond, all interconnected to create a complex environment suitable for all of the birds that live here. Make friends with some of the many photogenic birds, including the brilliant Amazonian macaws, cheeky rainbow lorikeets, galahs, cockatoos, water birds and more. Explore on pathways and boardwalks, with lots of hand feeding and photo opportunities. Flying around you are species from the world’s vanishing rainforests, including some of Australia’s most precious and beautiful birds such as the endangered Southern Cassowary, an icon of the Wet Tropics World Heritage listed Rainforests, and Eclectus Parrots, which are only found in Queensland’s Cape York region.
Bespoke Birdworld offers enthusiasts a more personalised experience, including a guided tour of the aviary before it opens to the public. Our passionate Bird Keepers will share interesting facts on some of the many birds, with the chance to hand feed a Southern Cassowary. Please note this is a small group tour, with a maximum of 6 and minimum of 2 guests – it must be booked by 1pm the day prior to visit. The entry to Birdworld Kuranda is inside the Kuranda Heritage Markets, which is on Rob Veivers Drive. There is no minimum or maximum time limit that you can spend at Birdworld Kuranda. You have the option to purchase bird feed (extra cost) at the ticketing counter, so you can feed the beautiful birds for an amazing encounter.
Kuranda By Design A VIP package providing personalised animal experiences and interactions, letting you spend some exclusive, small group time, with the keepers at Birdworld and Kuranda Koala Gardens. It starts with Bespoke Birdworld and ends with a 30-minute guided tour of Kuranda Koala Gardens, including a koala pat photo. This is a small group tour.
